Sandy Williams

Sandy Edited

Growing up on a dairy farm, Sandy always had dogs, cattle and other farm animals. When she was in elementary school her mom decided to give the family love for dogs some direction. This new found direction lead them straight to Leader Dogs for the Blind. Raising puppies of various breeds for Leader Dogs catapulted Sandy into the world of working dogs. Raising 3 successful dogs for the Leader Dog program taught Sandy handling skills that are still with her today. During her stay in the Leader Dog program, Sandy also joined the local 4-H club called “Tail Waggers.” For many years she showed and competed her leader dogs in Basic Obedience classes at the 4-H fair.

As life progressed Sandys oldest son talked her into buying a Rottweiler puppy. Knowing the challenges that came with such a powerful breed, Sandy hooked up with instructor Gwen Coon. Gwens love for agility lead Sandy to teach and compete with her Rottweiler “Cajun.” Sandy and her #125 Rott achieved UKC AGII. Sandys love for agility lead her to teaching Agility Classes at Cher Car Kennels in 2005/2006. Three of her students went on to achieve United Agility Champion and United Grand Agility Champion; one of which was a Great Dane.

“I trained with Capital City Dog Sports for about 12 years and met Nick through the club.  Nick is a trainer that is diverse, progressive and ever evolving in his training methods.  I have been extremely fortunate to get started with Nick and Von Der King Kennels and Training.  Even after all of these years, I’m still learning new things and ways to train dogs from Nick.” – Sandy Williams

We at Von Der King Kennels and Training are very happy to have Sandy and her talents as part of our team. Her life long experience and dynamic training ability bring diversity, commitment and excellence to the VDK program.
